Sneak Peak “YoungGUNZ” Ocelot

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

And again, sorry for the delay in getting this little guy out! Here’s a few shots of the 3rd MGS2 piece.

This time around I hope to release 20 pieces rather than 10. The demand for this series has become quite high so I don’t want to disappoint any buyers. My official release date will be determined in a bit but will most likely be at the very end of this month. I’m still pondering how I should release it. I didn’t like it the way I did it last time since it ended up a bit messy.

I’ll let everyone know in a couple of days as I come up with a better plan of release.

My latest project: I just finished designing and sculpting my very own platform figure for customization. A five and a quarter inch figure with minimal detail. Makes for a good base to customize with.

The basic platform is the figure on your right. And, the figure on your left is a MGS Snake custom. I have 10 of these available @ $120 a pop. Let me know if you’re interested!

For this first Volume, I still have 3 more MGS characters to make.

Here’s a fun custom project I completed. It was made using a “MadL” as the platform. I just love customs as they allow me the freedom to do as I please.

I’ve made 5 of these for purchase and will officially be released in a day or two. However, 3 of the 5 is already spoken for. You can contact me via email @ rohby@tinyimports.com if you wish to purchase one.

The inspiration for this piece was based on Caterpillar Skid Steer “Loaders”. In my opinion, these construction vehicles are one of the closest things we have that’s “Mecha” like.

I’ve got a few more designs based on the same idea that I plan to bring to life. I like to call these “Iron Slaves”. They’re basically slow moving, heavy, workhorse mechas.

The past week was hellish! Goodlord, there was a good 3 - 4 days where I had to work straight through the night to get this guy finished in time. Basically, I had to get done for NYCC which starts today (Friday). I finished and shipped it via Express mail on Wednesday. The package arrived to it’s destination in NJ the next day which was Thursday!

I probably had a good 3 - 4 months to work on it which was plenty of time. But I had other projects that was ahead of this one that I just had to finish. I dabbled on the Zero occassionally. Most, if not all of the heavy work was done 2 weeks prior to NYCC. And ofcourse the back breaking work was done during the final week.

If you (Glen from Android8) ever read this, I’m sorry for the scare it caused you!

Glen’s the backer for this project over at Android 8. He was extremely patient with the entire process. I pritty much gave him one excuse after another on the status of the project. I mean, I knew 100% that it would be done and in time for NYCC. But, I didn’t expect him to believe that if he knew the exact progress. None the less, I do thank him for his patience and trust.

Here’s a couple of progress shots I took during construction. The first pic was taken on Monday (Feb. 02). The second pic, was probably taken a early January. What you see is the sculpt of the hull (damaged turd looking thing at the bottom of the pic) which was ultimately destroyed over the process of vacuum forming. But that’s how you get the parts above it to be hollowed out like that.

Finally Done! But WAIT…there’s more!

I finally finished the last of the “Thunder Hammer” and I might just have to either revise it, or make another armor set all together. My fault though. I deviated way too far from the commissioner’s original recommendations for the color scheme.

I thought it would have been cool to fuse the two color themes/schemes (commish’s scheme x original scheme) giving it a unique look between the left and right side. Like an idiot, I went ahead and executed the decision. I absolutely love the way it turned out and more than likely WILL keep this set of armor aside and just start over with another set. I like it too much to have to paint over it.

During the completion of this kit, I caught a bad case of the flu which knocked me out for a good day and a half. That shit was VICIOUS! And now, I continue my all-nighter grind until I finish yet another project. This one’s set to debute at NYCC! Yup, I do realize NYCC is just around the corner which explains the all-nighter thing.

German Gray Paint

Tonight I’m busting an all-nighter trying to get this out ASAP. This project was supposed to be finished a couple of weeks ago but I did some last minute revisions.
This is the “Thunder Hammer” project which has swollowed up too much of my time. But, it’s FINALLY over! Well, after this very last piece.

Stock Valkyrie

The chosen Valkyrie for the armor. Normally I’d stay away from using anything too dark to paint over, but I kind of have no choice on this one. I’ll have to slowely
layer on the paint until the black is no longer visible.
